unpaid tuition from sept of 2002

I have unpaid tuition bill from pace U. NY dating back to sept 2002.
I did not pay because I dropped the course, unfortunately, Pace University does not agree with me. so after all these years, the best thing that they can do for me is to pay off in full which would be roughtly $3,600.
I tried to reason with them, which is not going through. What would be the best way to settle this? is it needed to pay up after all these years?
See, I'm just upset with it because I dropped that class, but with no record dating back to 2002, my words are no longer valid.
any other means to settle this without dishing out $3,600?
thank you!

Do you have any proof that you dropped the classes? If not, unfortunately you are going to be stuck with the bill. If you don't pay, best case scenario is they will just not let you take any classes there, and will not release any transcripts to any other school. Worst case scenario, they could sue you or send your account to collections. The best thing to do is to work with them on making payments. Sadly this bill will not go away. I work at a university and there are people who owe money from 20 years ago and cannot come back because of owing a balance.

How long into the semester did you drop the class? Generally after 15-20 days you are not due a refund. From their website....Students who withdraw from one or more classes after the first class meeting are subject to the University Tuition Cancellation Policy as published in the course catalog and class schedules.
Go to http://web.pace.edu/page.cfm?doc_id=34503 to read the full policy.

Lawyer cant help you...generally after 4-5 weeks you owe 100% off tuition or whatever your school policy dictates. If you have no proof, you are SOL....a reputable attorney will tell you the same thing and charge you for the same advice Maybe they will settle off on some
