i have not worked in 6 months..though i believe i got a $13 dollar an hour job today
but still, 23,000 is huge
i talked to moneymanagement credit counsiling, and she suggested bankruptcy....though she said if i could get $400 more a month than unemployement, i could go for debt management....
problems-
my priority is for some schooling right now,, ,because i cannot be a certified nursing assisstant much longer, i am 59,,just getting to hard...so the next year and half may be some schooling
since its been 6 months , i am sure the debt went to credit collection....
what are my options...

bankruptcy sounds very bad, since the negative effect....could i call each creditor up, and agree to pay 50 per cent back, and make monthly payments

Ronald,

Bankruptcy should be your last resort. It hurts your credit adversely, and your credit score lowers by 200-250 points. It's better to avoid bankruptcy as much as possible.

You need to pull a copy of your credit report to find out the status of all your accounts. You need to provide more information on your debt. It is needed to help you in your problem.

Thanks

my score is 488

i am 59 yrs of age, and i really need to change careers, because the job i am at is physical labor, getting to be too much...so its possible i need a yr of schooling...

its hard to pay debt that much with $13 hr job.

i have about 9 creditors, credit card....i had started a debt settlement company from care-on, parcel and assicoates, ,started that in jan, feb, and then lost my job. so my creditors have not been paid in 7 months or so..i have told them awhile back that i had no job, though a couple harrass me every day...especially wall mart which is ge money.

i could try debit settlement to pay off 50 %,,but it would take a yr to save up $10,000

okay...there is a stature of limitations before they can sue you , i am not sure what it is in arizona...if i could save 10,000 in a yr, and then just pay them off in a debt settlement, would i not be better than a lawsuit,,,there have been some that have stated i can be in a hardship program too.

lets say i save 10,000 in a yr...could i not call up each creditor, tell them i am going to pay 50% , a settlement...or bankruptcy...seems like to me they would accept...if i could do this....would i have to tell them ahead of time..its been 6 months now without payment./..there have been some that told me of a hardship program too

i have a walmart card, and i talked to them...the guy is tough, no sympathy ...he just tells me to send $15 month on a 400 bill....if they all did that.,,,it would be impossible
