garnshmnt pd in full, attny won't send release.

On June 30, I paid off a court judgment. I paid the amount directly via bank transfer and requested the release be sent immediately to employer to stop garnishment from pay check. As of today the firm Kramer and Frank P.C. still has not issued the release and they never have the same story twice. They are receiving payments weekly directly from employer and have over $800 that they are not entitled to. What can I do to get them to send the appropriate releases and refund the money they are continuing to receive? The company has a F rating from the BBB.

In order to get the garnishment released I think you may have to go back into court. The law says that once you have paid off a judgment lien/garnishment the creditor is required to release the lien/garnishment. If they haven't then they are violating the law unless they can prove otherwise. If you go into court and show the judge that the creditor is taking more than they were allowed to, then you will not only be able to get the money they have illegally taken out, but you will also be able to request (and most likely be granted) damages in the form of your court costs and attorney fees.
