i have a collection agency that i am trying to set up payments for a creditor that wants a copy of my bank statement and payroll stub.is this something that i need to do.

did you get anything in writing,and who is the CA?that info should not be required therefore i agree that you shouldn't give them that info.
the only bank i would ever provide that info to is the mortgage
the only bank i would ever provide that info to is the mortgage company for a loan modification or refi...anyone else, has no business with that information, and i have not had any of my cc banks ask for such. do not give them the info.
