Due to a medical hardship, I need to get my mortgate modified to a lower payment. My mortgage compny had me complet tons of paperwor, and I provided them with all nec docs. To date nothing has happend. I'm looking for a reliable consultant or mortgage litigation firm. most ask for money up front, but don't provide information that they have contacted our morgage company. I am afraid of scams.

Yes most of the mortgage mod companies are not good. Since the new law came into affect or will be soon, most will go out of business. But some have figured out a way to get money up front in spite of the law saying they can not. what they are doing is charging you like $3000 for educational materials. Most of these materials are garbage it's just a way to get your money up front.

Loan modifications take a long time and you will simply need to keep bugging your mortgage company about it. That's all these companies do anyway - they have no magic.

you can contact HOPE NOW and they will be your advocate for FREE... they will contact your mortgage company, often doing 3 way calling with you on the line... a friend of mine was having major problems getting modification, they were outright denying her, so she called HOPE NOW, and they did the 3 way call... they also gave her phone numbers for local FREE help, and numbers for assistance services other than home related. they are really good there. do an internet search for HOPE NOW, and they have a website with phone numbers.. we are about to begin a loan mod ourselves and if the mortgage company gives me flack, i will be contacting HOPE NOW myself..
