I have settled most of my debt (40K)as of the end of June but have 3 smaller accounts left. Two of them though have been sent to collections as I just did not have enought money to keep paying the payments while I was paying off the other accounts
.
I would appreciate any help in dealing with the CA as far as trying to settle the last 3 accounts. They are:

HSBC $3500 in collections
Juniper Bank $5300 in collections
Capitol One $2200

Should I still call the original creditors first, or should I try with the CA. I see in some of the other posts that you may be able to settle for a smaller amount with the CA.. Does anyone have any idea what percentage they might settle for.. Any tips would be appreciated.

I too haven't settled with the first two, but I did have 2 cap one accounts. One of them I settled (it was actually my first settlement), the other won't settle and it charged off 3 months ago and is still with Cap One in their recovery department. I'm hoping to have better luck with a collection agency if they ever sell it.

The one I did settle was for 50%. The one is still outstanding they are only allowing 88% which I simply can not do and they won't go any lower.
