Hi my daughter has defaulted (for lack of a better term) on her large sallie mae loan. Allied Interstate has been callinf and just yesterday she spoke to them and made a payment plan. However now she is afraid it is a scam. Could it be? She certainly does owe a debt and she does want to pay it. BVut she is afraid that she may have made a mistake in authorixzing the auto withdrawal from the bank, please give me some advice...quick! Thank you

No ...it is not a scam. Allied is a vendor for both the US Department of Education and several FFELP lenders. Student loans divisions are seperate from other collection areas and the safeguards and regs are tight. You are fine with auto withdrawal.

Defaulted is the correct term. She gonna rehab or consolidate to resolve the default?
