Do I have a chance in court or do I contact the creditor or the lawyer and try to settle. My situation has actually deteriorated since dealing with the creditor over a year ago and I have no reserve funds to make a lump settlement.

If the credit card was issued through US Bank and they are the party suing you then I would say they have real good odds of winning a judgment if it goes to court. You might consider trying to settle with them either via a set payment over time or a lump sum payment. If they sue then it will probably result in the same outcome forced by a judge.

In the same boat, however, no longer live at this address. Fair credit law, and the Minnesota fair credit law. Doesn't give them the right to contact my parents. If I don't live there, and they are going to report these people to the attorney general office to make the stop.

I am in the same boat. Don't have a perment place to live. Just keep trying to find a full time job, with bad credit equal no job. Will be living in Florida soon. If they want to serve me, they better go to this state. If you win a judgment against me without serving me. I can have it removed.
The creditors have broken some of the fair credit laws. My parents have recorded every message they have left on their answering machine. When they told them I know longer live their. Which violates the Minnesota fair credit law, and federal credit law. Since they are contacting a third parties about my debt, and leaving messages which state I am in debt. They can be sued too.
