I have 5 payday loans and 1 signature loan. I'm currently enrolled in a debt counseling program with my credit card debt. My counselor informed me he couldn't help me with
that kind of unsecured debt. His suggestion was to close out my account, go into default with my loans, and when they turned the loans over to a collection agency, then he could help me with that too. I live in Kansas, so my biggest fear is being charged with check fraud. Also,
being taken to court over the matter by the collection agency.

I have every intention of repaying these loans. I talked about making payments over a
period of time, but I'm unable to make the kind of payments they require. I lose about
600.00 dollars an month from my income, trying to keep up with payments. I have never
missed a payment nor have I been late. I been doing this now for 2 years. It is getting to
the point were I can't keep up with my rent, car payment, utilities, etc. I just hope I'm doing the right thing.

I believe CNU is the only certified lender, please check with the NM Dept of Financial Institutions for licensing. They may offer you an extended payment plan. As far as Zip and Ameriloan, they hold no license in NM. You are only morally obligated to repay the principal balance minus any fees.
