Still not sure about Regent

This I know, Regent collected on a legitimate US Bank debt I had. I paid them. Now they're still calling me, and I say "I already paid that" and they say "oh sorry" usually, but lately I just haven't answered. I do fear they might be trying to double collect, or perhaps their computer systems just really, really suck.
Send a DV letter
I believe you've all the documents which prove that you've paid off the account. If yes, then simply send a letter disputing the debt through a certified mail return receipt. Attach all the documents that prove that you've already made the payment.
The CA has to validate the debt in order to continue collection process. But, if they continue harassing you without validating the debt, then you can file a case against the CA with the Federal Trade Commission or your states' Attorney General.
