getting out of payday loan trouble

I live in the state of MA and I have 4 payday loans:

Cash Direct Express
VIP Loan Shop
I am trying to figure out if these are legal or illegal companies. I also wanted to know if going through a debt consolidation would be helpful or if I should try to clean this mess up myself. Either way I am looking for some help to get me in the right direction to put this mess to an end. Please help!
