Does debt consolidation show negative on your credit report ?

Consolidating your debts will have minimal impact on your credit rating. If your accounts are in default, then paying off your accounts through debt consolidation can actually improve your score.

Your creditors will agree to a debt consolidation program only when you're behind your payments for at least 3-4 months. So, that will affect your credit score. But, once you start making payments, make sure that you don't miss a single one. Moreover, after paying off an account, don't try to close the account. This may also affect your credit rating.

Regular payments through debt consolidation will, within a period of time, increase your credit score.
