When you are talking to a creditor how do you get them to listen to the fact that you want to settle not make paymts? I have a CA that is asking for my husbands info which I did not give, but they keep saying if you have the money to settle why not make pymts, please help me come up with what to say ???

Payments just put you back in the same position, paying monthly forever. Did you send them debt validation? If not mail ASAP. You do not have to let them know you have cash for settlement. Say something like, "Well if I could borrow $$ from friend or family can we settle?" Payments also retart the clock for statute of limitations.

I have a family friend/close relative/rich uncle that is going to loan me $x dollars, but only if I can come up with a settlement of $x amount. I don't have enough money to make payments, and the only reason I have any money is my friend is going to loan it to me.

In my case I had two cards I was trying to settle with, so I wouldn't hide that fact (they can see it on your credit report anyway, so don't try to lie if it's not true). I've got two cards I've got to settle with but only enough money for one, kind of playing them against each other. I was able to settle with citi for 20% in one lump sum this way. Good luck.
