I have credit card debt from over five years ago and I live in Ohio. Someone tried to deliver a certified letter to my old job. Is it possible I am being sued for old CC debt that fell off my record and has been charged off? (it's from 2000-2001 I believe). Thanks for your help!! :) Also, I looked up the local clerk of courts records as Ihave seen reccommended here, and there were no court cases in my name...

It doesn't matter if it has been charged off. You should determine if it is beyond your State's Statute of Limitations.

It's possible the certified letter is a summons. Ohio does allow service by certified mail.

And Ohio has long SOL, 15 years for written contracts, 6 years for oral. If they don't have your signature on a contract, it will fall under the 6 year SOL. Recent case law affirms that.
