As far as the time frame you should already be able to qualify.

If there is another issue qualifying then perhaps a loan modification may be a solution, make sure their are no upfront fees.

i agree... i would try for a loan modification... do some research on the requirements for loan mods, and also for refinancing...if you have never been late and never missed a payment, you will most likely have better luck with your current mortgage company on either options... the fact that the chapter 7 is still on your credit report, that could be an issue that is preventing refinance...
you should contact your nearest HUD housing counselor, as they may be able to assist you...
Ours is an fha loan, and they even have requirements for current fha loans to "streamline refinance" or modifications....
