Are these PDL Cos Illegal in CA?
Date: Wed, 07/28/2010 - 20:46
Are the following PDLs legal in the state of CA?
Cashnet USA (I hear that they are most likely registered)
AdvanceMeToday
Eastside Lenders
First Bank of Deleware - fbdloans.com.
A while back someone posted that there are 2 FBD entities. One is fake and can be found via fdbloans.com. The other is the legitimate bank - fbdel.com.
Also, can the companies post negatively on a person's credit file?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone increasing our knowledge about these illegal practices.

Thank you Shazzers! Since FBD and Cashnet are legal to lend in CA are they still allowed to charge exorbitant interest fees? Also, can the illegal companies ding someone's credit report?

Unfortunately yes, I believe Cashnetusa is operating as a CSO, and CSO's interest and fees are not regulated. But that's something you might want to look into, if Cashnetusa issued you a 'payday loan' they need to follow your state laws, if they issued you an installment loan they are probably operating as a CSO.
As far as FBD, many people have complained about them and the fees they charge, it won't hurt to complain but I doubt if that will change anything, sorry.
