Any Way to Answer Court Summons With Out having to Pay the $275?

I am being sued twice by a cheesy Law firm in Chicago, IL. (Blatt, Hasenmiller....Cook County, IL.) They left 2 Summons on my porch after my wife refused to sign for them...(1 for FIA and 1 for Livingston Financial out of MN.) If I am getting what I am reading, do I really have to pay approx. $275 per case to just answer the summons in court?..Is there any way to get around paying this??..I really don't have $550 right now..I imagine this is yet another ploy these bottom-feeders use...File many lawsuits knowing that if people are in this position, they will not have the $$ to answer..They will then win the judgement..I appreciate any help with this..(*Side note* I have now asked twice for them to Validate the Debt...They have yet to do so)..Thanks again and keep up the good work!

yes go to the cook county curcuit court clerk website.then go to court services.click pro-se help.that should allow you to file an answer without paying.

well i checked where the cases that are filed are,and there is nothing there.i would watch that carefully.maybe get around the filing an answer by just showing up,but if there is no case or court date i would wait and see.yes if they get a default you can have it vacated for "improper service.i saw nothing where the sheriff attempted service.also i saw nothing at all regarding livingston financial as a plaintiff in the website.btw the fee is BULLSH*T.we live in the most corrupt state in the union.
