okay, so i sent all the letters that state that payday loans are illegal in the state of NJ. and that based on the laws I am responsible for only the principle minus any payments I already made to the company.
I have had 2 companies come back and say that in the aggreement I signed that I agreed to the loans based on the laws in the state where the loan originated from and therefore I owe the principle plus any outstanding interest/fee charges.
does anyone know how to respond to this??

Did you go through the agreements before signing them? I hope you did. Was there any point where it was written that you've to act according to the law of some different state??? I don't think there is any PDL law that confirms this statement. Moreover, payday loans are illegal in your state. The next time they call you, tell them that you know your states' laws and will go by them.You can also file a case with the FTC or the BBB.
