Collection Agency refused to cancel my payment
Date: Tue, 08/03/2010 - 08:18
I would be grateful for any information anyone could provide. NRC debt collection agency has been bullying and harrassing me for the last month. I am a graduate student and have no income, yet they were able to talk me into a payment plan (I know dumb move) - after I got off the phone I realized I did not want them to have access to my account...so I called back and tried to rescind my authorization. All of my requests have been ignored and now they have pulled the money from my account resulting in a very large negative balance. I am panicked. I have placed a stop payment on the amount...but I don't know how to proceed from here. Does anyone have any advice please?
Thank you very much
Notify your bank manager that there are unauthorized withdrawals
Notify your bank manager that there are unauthorized withdrawals being done on your account, or close that account asap!! Open a new one elsewhere, yea its a pain in the butt but that is the only way to safeguard your banking info, once they have your info they WILL keep trying to get into your account. Next send them a DV (debt validation-search this site for a template) letter CMRRR, promptly. When they call again tell them you are waiting for your dunning letter and hang up and I wouldnt speak to them again on the phone until I got something in writing.
Great advice from anonyomous. Buy cheap tape recorder and tape
Great advice from anonyomous. Buy cheap tape recorder and tape them if they call again. Legally they cannot harass or bully you. Sent DV letter ASAP.
