Can i use my 5 y/o child bank acct. for my direct deposit to avoid
Garnishment from creditors?

I would also look into getting a "prepaid" mastercard/visa to protect yourself. These can be direct deposited into (assuming you are currently working) or can also be added to at many locations. They eat you up with nickel and dime fees but thats better in my opinion than getting all your money stolen by a judge.

The info Ive seen says they are also much harder to locate than a local brick & mortar bank and thus harder to levy against. Most levy actions you will encounter are from a local judge/magistrate who's jurisdiction ends at a county or state line. These cards are administrated by people like "GE Money" bank or H & R Block bank etc.

Rown, i was thinking same way about pre paid visa card.
i still work and has direct deposit, my company would not pay me in cash but chk. only.
i was thinking:
A. Can i Cash in my chk. over the counter of my company's bank?
B. or as you mentioned, Can i have them direct deposit to this pre paid visa?
