Suit Filed but Not Served in TEXAS

I recently learned in July that suit was filed on me in April! No, I have not been served papers. I reside in TX and I am wondering how long the Plaintiff has to serve me. I did notice that whoever filed the lawsuit is a debt buyer looking for a dollar.
Also, what should I do in this situation? Go to court? Settle? IDK...either way, I do not have the funds to pay them at this time. We are doing good to pay the mortg. and keep the lights on! I can really use some help here!

You should first find out if a judgment has been issued on this.
You should first find out if a judgment has been issued on this. You will get to know this from your credit report. You can file a motion to vacate the judgment as you were not served papers. You can also consult a lawyer regarding this.
