hanna & associates

I live in Connecticut. We have a credit card that was charged off by chase bank. The last payment made was in October of 2009. It is now August 2010. A collection agency tried contacting us about 5 or 6 months ago. I asked them to validate the debt via certified mail. They never responded after 2 or 3 letters and most certainly not within the 30 days. I believe we finally received a letter saying the account was closed with the collection agency and to contact Chase directly. Well now, this hanna & associates is calling saying they are starting litigation against us for chase. I asked for them to validate the debt and he said if they do that they weill come after us for the whole amount owed, no deal could be made. I did not say the debt was ours and said I did not know if they were legitimate or not. He said to call chase to confirm who they were. How do i know if the debt was sold to them or if chase is still the debt owner?
Frederick Hanna is a collection agency with an awful reputation!
Frederick Hanna is a collection agency with an awful reputation! They are ruthless in there collecting practices bending, if not breaking laws as they go along! How much is the debt for? How much are they willing to settle for! If you owe the money to Chase then validation would not really help you! It is not old! They need to send you at least a dunning letter to prove that they are the legal collector! If there is a substantial amount involved you should retain an attorney!
