Hello Nelly, after quick web searches on MRS Associates (from phone #) I thought was a scam. Wow, I was actually beginning to unleash unrelenting anger at the regular caller (about 100-150 calls in past few months)...and then, I went to their main website (https: legitimate site); I looked up the BBB rating = A (non-accredited though); and saw your postings; and how to legally deal with them. This is a legitimate firm!!!
However, I'm not the one they're looking for. They originally called a few months ago asking for my first+wrong middle initial+last name so they knew then I'm "not-their-guy" and since have called and hung up. NOW, they go through my call manager "Not a Telemarketer" and ask for me directly and I actually get to speak with them. I get really rude on the phone and forthecoming. I now ask for full name of caller; full addressing info; phone number (they give the 800# though) and I chat with them.
I state that 'You've known for a few months that I'm not the person you're seeking yet you continue to call me...is that not harassment? I think you are harassing me'. I tell him that 'you knew again last week that I'm not the person you seek and yet you continue to call me.'
- He quotes an SSN and I confirm that it is Not mine.
- He states that I owe $1K+ to Capital One yet I still have a valid card with a much lesser limit. (I do not disclose this though yet I refuse to be dishonest so I'm sure he's decyphered that I have (had) one of the cards.
- Today, he stated that I made a $141 payment...which of course I did not.
For a legitimate company (according to BBB), how they continue to call me? Do I really need to get all the info from them? Will I need to recite to them all my addressing info?
??? - Did they just look up my (same) name in the phone book and then decide I'm the one to call?
FYI - because of this, I've seeked my credit info and now paying $15/mo. to get any info on my credit changes and queries.
This is frustrating beyond measure and unwanted and unwarranted. They are attempting to get funds from a delinquent individual that is not me yet I appear to be the one they seek.
thanks, in advance.
David

Do you have an attorney that you use for anything! If so send a letter to these folks referring all their calls to him or her and tell them that you are looking into filing against them! See how quickly they will stop calling you! Just ask the attorney if you can refer to him or her! If you do not know an attorney send a letter stating the same thing and copy the Federal Trade Commission! State that you are retaining an attorney!
