Most people have difficulties paying off credit cards. Are you having trouble paying off one card debt or do you by any chance have multiple credit card debts and are in a debt spiral? i.e. do you keep getting into and out of debt more often?

Hello guys. Ok so please can anyone help me? I have 4 credit cards totaling approx 40+k in debt. I have Citi and Advanta as myu banks. I have tried to read and read on this subject and now my head is starting to explode. I really need help in tryign to figure out how to settle this debt on my own if it is at all possible. I have researched debt settlement companies but even with them their fees are so high that if I dont have the money to pay the credit cards how can i pay these fees? However, I don't mind if anyone out there can give me some advice or help in settleing my debt I dont mind doing all the leg work if someone can just give me some pointers. I am in ruins and my life is falling apart because of this debt. I am on the verge of losing my wife and kids and I really can't understand how to make this all just go away. I dont have much money but i have been saving and any assistance from anyone that is caring enough to help would be much much appreciated. Thank you.
