Is there a way to consolidate hospital bills?

Yes, you can do it. Contact the hospital finance department and explain your financial situation to them. Ask them if they can combine all your medical bills into one manageable account that can be paid on with reasonable payments. Get the agreement in writing.

Now, create a debt pay off plan and stick to it. Although you might have to cut down on your expenses, but you'll be able to see the debt through. Let me know how it's going. If you want help with the process, pm me.

This isn't exactly accurate. There are numerous types of bills that occur due to a hospital stay. You'll receive the hospital (facility) bill, the bill from your attending physician, a bill from any specialist (surgeon, cardiologist, etc.) who may have seen you, a bill from an ER doc (if applicable), a bill for x-rays/diagnostics (if applicable), etc. Some of these may be billed through the hospital, but some won't.

So, calling the hospital's billing department won't help you with consolidation. If you are having financial problems, they may be able to help you reduce the amount you owe and set you up on a payment plan - depending on your income.

You could also call up all of these people and try to settle the bills for less on your own. There are plenty of tools available to you at this site for DIY settlement.

You could also use a consolidation company.
