I am 141 days late and they just offered 45% of my $12,300 balance. They said it gets charged off at 180 days late. Anybody go through this similar experience? Do you think they will go lower as the 180 days approach? I offered 30% and they said they never go that low which I know is a lie.

Hi Robert,

Citibank is a little difficult to settle with but there are instances where consumers have settled well below the % offered to you. Go through the posts in the following thread and you'll gain a lot of knowledge about settling with Citibank: http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/settlement/citicard.html

I would call back in 10 days or so and offer 30% again...you don't have to say 30%, just offer the dollar amt that equals 30% and tell them that is how much you have. I settled two accts at that rate. If you get right at 180 days then maybe think if you have the 45% as it might be easier to settle at that then go to collections.

Hey Robert;
A couple thoughts. Are you offering one lump sum or 3 payments over 90 days? Also Jill is right, you're offering a dollar amount not a percentage. It's better to say all I have is 3100 dollars, not a percentage. The other thing I remember is every 30 days they're given a new lower percentage to accept. It was like clockwork. At 90 days they offered 55% at 120 days 45%, etc. So I'm sure at 150 days you can get a better deal. Fyi, I settled my CC for 29% at about 90 days, 4 payments over 93 days. I settled my wife's CC for 20% one lump sum payment at about 160 days. Hold your ground, decide what you want offer 3 or 400 less, and let them bring you up to the amount you want but be adamant that's all you have. Good luck
