I took out a pdl from cash jar in CA. The amount was for $450 & i was told the total debt would be $720. So, every month from aug- nov 09, they debited $270. I figured that by the end of this time, my debt would be payed off. Soon after the nov debit i learned that i was only paying the interest on account. I closed my account. Never heard from them again. Six months pass, I filed for bkrtcy, i included this debt. Forward 3 months brings us to late july..three days b4 i get discharged..i get call from a scum attempting to collect for nsf- bad check, she claims not original loan but the bad check. She didnt contest my discharge, so she loses- i soon learned this from court trustee. I am discharged. Come to find out..I just learned that this pdl company isnt licensed in my state. I called them and they claim they sold debt seven months ago to a collection agency. Now this collection agency wants at least $1000 from me NOW. From what i have been advised and what i have learned by reading some of the posting in this forum..i am certainly not giving away my money to any scum--especially when i have a stay order. I know she violated many rules. I am trying to find her to sue her. My questions are: How do i go about obtaining a refund from the original creditor..should i just call them and request it? How do i come up w a figure? Should i even request a refund or just let it go and make peace w it? I dont need the $, but i know a relative that could use it for her kids back 2 skl clothes. Would i be opening a can of worms here? Thanks for all your help.
