I have a debt of $25,000 due Citi bank that I can no longer pay because I am self employed/self supporting and lost a big chunk of income. It has now been turned over to Global. I talked to the supervisor today with an offer to settle (first time talking to him). He refused my offer and asked me if I would send three months worth of bank statements for his manager and him to go over to see if they can make any suggests/deals. I did initially agree, but I am kinda of shying away from sending him my bank statements. Any suggestions on what to do here? Thank you so much in advance.

I already settled several accounts, one with Bank of America, $20,000 -+ for $5,500, and a 30% settlement on four Chase accounts; all very nice and understanding people to deal with.

I still have Discover Card (not nice people) and a GE card (now in collections and small accounts), along with the Citi Bank account left.

Thank you, OhioGal. I did not send the bank information - although it does show lack of income, I just didn't feel comfortable doing it. I appreciate the suggestions. Have you dealt with Global/Citi? Would you send the settlement offers to Citi or Global? Global told me it would eventually go back to Citi with their recommendations. I had been dealing with Citi, and they were nice, but could not give me an offer that I could afford; finally, right before they sent me to collections, a guy told me that Citi does not accept offers unless they are in writing, but at that point it was too late.

Again, thank you.

Thank you, Debt free to be. I was avoiding their calls, not knowing what to say as to why I did not send my statements...I will definitely use your suggestion.

I read this board every chance I get, and I thank everyone for sharing their knowledge and experiences. I was sinking fast, not knowing what to do, before I found this site. Now, I can actually see some light. Thanks again!
