I am having the same issues on an old debt of $430. I was working out of state on my court date and completely forgot. Now I have a bench warrant and I contacted his office and he was horrible. Told me I owe $2400 now and that I needed to get my shit together. He said I need to pay by this weekend of he would have the sheriff come get me. My other option is to fill out all that paperwork and when he gets it he will call off the sheriff and set up a pymnt plan. It is soooo much info almost to include the date of my last period. Does he have to know what tv I own? Why can't I just pay him in a few pymts???? Do I have any rights anymore?

First of all, they would have take you to small claims court. When you did not show up, they would have granted a default judgment for the plaintiff, which means that you did not dispute the claim. Secondly, I question where the $2000 came from.

Did you get served by the sherriff with court papers or were you just going based off of what the creditor sent you? I would call the Clerk of the Court for your county for clarification of the amount due, if any.
