Ok folks it has been awhile and I am sorry I have not been on here. Major health problems going on in the family. Anyways have settled FIA/BofA combined debt is nearly $80,000 between the 2 cards and they finally settled last month for 20% over 4 payments. I am done. I settled chase in May, Advanta in May and went on a Harship plan with another card that wouldn't budge so I am not going to fight anymore. Our debt we have left is manageable AND our dang home loan mod finally went thru as well so onto a better future. Due to family circumstances I just haven't been able to be on here, but I thought I would touch base and let you all know how the last one went. I was 120 days late and I got a really nice guy that after hearing my story he just went to bat for me. It was done in a matter of days. I am so grateful. We have made 2 payments and have 2 more to do. Hang in there it does happen and will!!!!

Luckin 10.....great story....I too worked with a great person at the Senior accounts at FIA and at 120 days late....great gal....real nice and we settled at 20-25% on two cards with a large debt.....BOA was the easiest for us!! thanks for sharing...it is exhausting ....so you deserve a rest! Congratulations, sounds wonderful about your loan mod.....and a bright new future around the corner!

Hi there,

Would any of your guys provide the phone number for the great people you worked with? I have spoken to 2 lower level folks (also very nice) but we haven't gotten to settlement yet and it is coming up, I need a higher # to call.
You can PM me if you don't want to post it online. Please!
thanks,
Kaylee

Can anyone tell me if BOA is settling on their Gold Option loans like they are on their credit cards? I owe $21k and did not make my payment due on the 23rd. Sent the bill in saying "my wife had to cut back on hours based on heath issues: which is true...

Hi Unregistered,
I settled my Gold Option (formerly MBNA) for 30% at 180 days late over 3 payments. The days of the Gold Option are gone for sure. I remember how I received it. They called me one night and said: Since you already owe us a lot of money, how about if we put $25,000 into your checking account tonight? Well I spent it in a month and then paid on it for 7 years at $410 per month before defaulting on about $17k balance.

Scoche here, I was the "Unregistered" you answered...BOA did the same thing to me. Back in March of '08 we got about 25k to pay off 2 credit cards, but used the available a couple times so the balance is at 21k with a payment of $587.00. Can't make it now and the first payment I didn't pay was due on the 23rd of this month. I e-mailed them on BOA.com, and got a reply that I had to call a number since they couldn't reply to me via e-mail. Should I just wait to see what happens? I will probably have about $6k by December that I could settle with. What are my chances???

I would call 866-833-6398. They settle right away with your creditors. You only pay them a small fee and you pay the creditors directly once you receive a settlement letter, so you see where your money is going. In most cases the settlement is around 20-25 cents on the dollar.
