I received a summons from a law office of Rory W. Clark on behalf of Midland Funding LLC. The summons claims Midland purchased an old debt from Washington Mutual.
The debt is for $2800 but in recent conversation with the law frim the amount has interest and is now $3197.

What can I do about this?

The most important thing is too show up in court so you do not lose by default! Once there, in most states, there will be a mediator who will act as a neutral party to help you and the plaintiff reach a settlement agreement! This will avoid judgement on your record! They will also try to tack on attorneys fees and court costs! You could try to fight it but if you owe it you probably won't win and your credit will take a big hit! Sorry I could not be more positive but I have traveled that path before!
