HSBC called DH 2x at work today, 2 wks late

Our payment was due on the 14th and they called my husband 2x today. I talked with Chase and told them we couldn't make our payment this month and they connected me with a credit counselor which is not the route we want to take since we don't forsee much change in our situation in the very near future. Also talked with Discover. They said we could make $40 pymt instead of $80 payment for 6 months, but would close our account. Told them I'm not sure if we could send a payment. So I wonder if HSBC knows about that. 2 weeks late seems early for phone calls like that.
