College Girl With No Health Insurance
Date: Wed, 08/25/2010 - 23:58
My daughter is college aged and unemployed. Her medical bills are $12,000 and collection agencies are trying to collect. Daughter moved out of state, two months ago, but the bills keep coming to my address. Most of the bills will be SOL, in her new residence state, within two years. In this state, where she moved from, the SOL won't expire for four more years. Her new residence state does not allow garnishment. I did not co-sign to pay her medical bills.
They can't sue me, can they?
Is it likely that they sue my daughter, and get a judgement even though they can't collect?

They might sue her, but will wait to collect. She wont be able
They might sue her, but will wait to collect. She wont be able to buy a car very easily, a home will be out of the question and they still can levy her bank account. She may also change states of residence after college.
The bills are coming to your address probably because that is the address she gave them.
