ccb credit services has finally agreed to settle a debt of $3,120 for $1,000, but on my credit report the acct. will show as "charged off, paid for in full for less of the balance."
is this ok?
they cannot remove the charged off from my credit...
please anyone help?

I just got the settlement letter from ccb credit services through fax...

"to whom it may concern:
pursuant to our conversation, our client HSBC BANK has agreed to accept $1,000 as settlement in full of your accct balance of $3,120.
The amount agreed upon as settlement in full must reach our office no later than August 26,2010.if this amount is not received in our office by the date...the settlement offer will be null and void...and the whole balance will become due.
sincerely,
costumer service department"

this is it....
can someone help me with this?
on the phone they told me that the acct will show on credit report as charged off, paid for in full for less of the balance.
IT doesn't say it on the letter though...and there is no signature on the letter.... don't they need to sign it?
please help!!!
should i go through with this?

Here's what I don't understand. From what you're saying, it sounds like HSBC still owns the account and this CA is acting on their behalf. If that's the case, I don't think your account was charged off and the line item should read "settled in full for less than the actual balance."

i just pulled up my credit report from equifax and my HSBC acct shows that is 150 days late, it doesn't say that is in collection or charged off....so my question is why ccb credit services says that after settlement my acct will show as charged off paid in full for less than balance???????
it is not charged off to begin with...
what is my next step?
and in the settlement letter shouldn't it say how the acct. will show on the credit report after the settlement??/

can somebody tell me if that settlement letter from above is legit??????

That's what I thought. Your account should show "account settled for less than the balance." Period. There shouldn't be anything on there about it being charged off. You need to ask them to amend the settlement agreement to state it properly.

You should also check with HSBC to make sure this CCB is actually acting on their behalf.
