I countered at $3,000 and they said that $5,000(40%) was the best they could do. I'm afraid because we are approaching the charge off stage at 180 days late.

SFL - 30% is a really good offer at that stage of the game. If you have it I would take it.
ROBERT - 40% isn't bad. It's better than 100% right? You could take your chances and hold out for better and maybe better will come along. But you are pretty close to charge off.

Greetings,
A 30% settlement with the citi bunch ain't bad, especially pre charge off.
For what it's worth, I took the 30% and killed the plastic master.
The 40% ain't too bad either, just wish you could grind it down more.

I just officially settled my last card with Citi last Monday. It was post charge off and with the second CA assigned to collect. My inflated Bal per the last statement was $20,459 and they offered me 15% or 3K lump sum...I had offered them 6K months ago and they apparently didn't want it...

Great settlement Maggie22. OP don't be afraid of charge off. As you see from Maggie22, lower settlements can be reached after charge off.

After igonring calls for 30 Days i picked up a call from Citi. Initially thet offered a nice hardship plan but showed my reluctance to accept and told them that my dad could lend me some money if they are willing to settle. The rep kept me on hold and came back to with an offer of 45% on the balance ( $23500).. That would be $10500.I countered them with 6k. I have to wait 48 hrs to know if they accept it seems.I am 45 days late on the accounts. What do you guys say?
