Paid loan...continued collections

I had a store-front payday loan in Texas from First Cash Financial Services, Inc., apparently also known as Texas Loan Corporation. It went to corporate collections, and I was fortunate enough to be able to satisfy the amount in full that they requested. This was about a year and a half ago. At that time I clarified with them that this would be considered as Paid in Full and that no further collections would be done...and I also clarified that this would be full and complete payment (including returned check fees), and that was confirmed.
Today, I receive a letter from this company stating that I owe $37.50, and when I made contact with the company they stated it was for returned check fees.
They were EXCESSIVELY rude, demeaning, and over $37.50...after I had paid them over $760 at once. The alleged supervisor had the nerve to make comments to me about they didn't ask me questions when I needed the money; I could have gone to the bank and borrowed it but I didn't because their company doesn't run a credit check and the bank would have; etc. This woman was MUCH more aggressive for the $37.50 than the man I dealt with over the $760.
I believe that this is a "trick" used by the company to continue to nickle and dime you for every cent you are willing to turn over....and I need direction from here. I'm very frustrated over the principal of this.
I have a letter stating the account was paid in full and have the bank records of when the check cleared. The company didn't dispute this, what they did dispute was that I didn't pay the returned check fee at the time.
I need guidance quickly.....just when I thought I'd just about dug myself out of this bottomless pit, the bottom feeders have come back for more.

Did you ever get a paid in full letter or a balance letter that that corresponds with the amount you paid?
