checking information I read in the Forum

I have 5 payday loans - 2 of which will end with a final payment tomorrow. I would like to resolve the other three. Based on information I gathered on this forum I placed a block with my bank on any further ACH debits from the three pdls. I am drafting letters to them as well as letters of complaint to the BBB, NY State Banking and the FTC.
I have now read some discouraging exchanges which lead me to believe that this strategy won't work. In all cases I paid more than the principal and my plan was to follow the suggested letter but include that since the loans are illegal and I have paid them the principal plus some interest, the loans are settled.
Is this the correct route to take or am I going down the wrong road.
Please help.

You may be able to have some of your money refunded, if you're willing to fight for it. If you just want this to be resolved, however, you'll probably be ok going the way you've mentioned.
Putting a block on the account, however, doesn't always work. These companies are illegal and will use alternate company names, issue paper checks, and do all sorts of tricky things to try to get your money. The only way to ensure your money is safe is to close the account and open a new one.
