I have been reading through the posts and greatly appreciate the valuable information contained on this site. Thank you for providing such great resources.
I reside in Indiana and have a total of 10 online payday loans out (info following) and am working to prepare letters to send each of them before all heck breaks loose with them as wells as to revoke any wage assignments. I closed my bank account to prevent their debits from continuing as they were sucking up all my income. I coundn't afford to pay living expenses if I continued paying them their fees.
I have checked the IN Secretary of State's office website to verify liscencing on them.....I found nothing on any of these companys. What exactly can I do to confirm whether or not these company's are illegal to do business in Indiana? I understand IN laws to only allow 2 PDLs to be taken out a a time and that IN doesn't allow "renewing" to be done where you only pay the interest on the loans.
Can you provide me some quick guidance and assistance for verifying the legality of these companys? I want to verify they are indeed illegal company's before send letters stating they are and suggesting a repayment plan for the principal to the loans. Thank you!

Want to give you all an update. Since I sent me email letters, I have received an email from Loanshop stating my 2 loans are considered paid in full. WHEWWWHOOOO! That was a total of $500.00. I thought something might come of things when they received a rejection on their last draft attempt, but I haven't heard a word since receiving my PIF information. Two other companies are being real pains.....USFash Cash are very persistant in informing me that they are liscenced in Deleware with their standard forms. They are obviously not getting my message, however, after they attempted telephone contact with me and I fired off another copy of my original letter and emphasized I would not accept phone contact.....the calls stopped....it's now quiet again. Nationwide Cash is another major pain. They are ignoring my email communications and continue to call my home and work leaving messages on my voicemails for me to call them. They are also persistant in replying back to my emails (from their customer service email) stating that I need to contact them at the phone number they list.....Their are not getting it!! The other companies haven't sent anything! I did notice everyone has also shut down my online access to check my accounts. I'm just waiting....... and trying to figure out how to deal with Nationwide Cash and USFash Cash for now. Any suggestions?

Oh forgot to mention Cash Direct....they are another one that insist they are liscenced in Deleware.....I haven't had any more luck with them either, but haven't received any more phone calls.

I have not gotten any further responses from these companies with the eception of Nationwide. Should I worry? Is there anything more I should do at this time ..... or should I just sit and wait? Nationwide is buggin the heck out of me now.....they are still not acknowledging my email communications ... they just continue to send their standard response. A woman calls everyother day and leaves voicemails stating they have been trying to contact me and have not received any kind of response from me.....although I have left 2 voicemails on her machine now stating they are not to contact me by phone and should only communicate with me in writing. I have also stated in my msgs that they must provide me an address to where payments can be made on the principle. I feel this is an effort wasted. Do I just begin ignoring the calls and continue to email their customer service address since that is all I have for an email? This mess is so frustrating.....I can't believe I have gotton wrapped up in this although I have definatley learned a lesson here! Thank you again for your information and advise!! You have all been a great help and have provided me much hope!

Amen to that! I will keep being persistant with them. Last night I glanced at their website disclaimers and happened to noticed where it states the states they do lend to ....... Indiana was on the list. I thought this was quite interesting. I don't recall if Indiana was in that information when I took the loan out initially, but it is now.... Just had to share that tid bit.

I guess I just won't worry about the other companies until I hear something. They have to do something eventually don't they. There are a couple that I believe I do owe them the principal on, but if they don't contact me......well.....guess that will be their loss?
