I just settled my $12,420.00 Balance with Citi for 28% of the balance of $3,491.00. Three monthly payments and no more citi debt!!!!!! Thank you for all the comments and I would be happy to help anyone in a similar situation.

I did it all myself, just called each creditor and explained my dire situation. I felt the longer you wait the better deal you can get. Any deal between 25-35% of the balance is a very good deal.

I too have a Citi HD card ($22K balance). It goes to charge-off in a few days. They just offered me a settlement of 35%. I was hoping to get in the 20-25% range, which is where I settled a couple of other citi cards. They tell me these were in a different portfolio and have no bearing on the HD account.

What say everyone? Should I take the 35%, or try to do it for less after charge-off? I could probably pay the 35%, but it would be a serious stretch. If I could just knock another couple of thousand off, i'd be in much better shape.

please can you give me the phone of the settlement department you called? I'm 156 days late and they warned me online that it could be charged off soon. I need a good deal, I want $2000.00 on $6000.00 balance, what should be my initial offer when I call.

Please help!!!

Thank you.
