I was served a summons this past Thursday. I live in Florida. Basically the debt is legit. What should I do and expect? The debt is 16,000.00 and I do not have alot of money to do a one time lump sum settlement. Thank you

We are going to talk with an attorney this week. The creditor is HFC and the firm representing them is Rolfe and Lobello who are in Florida. I did a DV letter and they threw me because they kept referencing Benefical. But it appears HFC and Benefical are one and the same. Meanwhile, I thought I had read somewhere that even if you get a summons, you can still try to work out something with the creditor. I think thats were we are heading.

I too received a summons for 2 accounts with HFC. I called the lawyer who filed for HFC and made 2 $50/month payment plan. They were very nice. Hope this helps.:D
