request for entry of default

recieved a "request for Entry of Default" from a collection agency in August 2010 for a credit card that was charged off in Nov. 2007 in California. I was never served and the request for entry has no dollar figures listed. Is this a scare tactic?

Probably. Did you ever get a call from the CA? Did you ever receive a Dunning letter or have the opportunity to request validation of the debt? Have they sued? What's the current status?
