I am currently about 90 days late with Chase on 2 cards with a 30k balance combined. I just received a letter saying that I will reviewed for a potential lawsuit if they don't get some type of payment in the next 7 business days. They are offering a settlement of 30% off the balance right now.

Is this a scare tactic to get me to make a payment?

The way I read it was 30% "off" the balance not "of" the balance unless that was a misprint. So 70%. Not so good, imo.

Yeah sorry for the miscommunication. Its actually now a 60% settlement offer as of this am(40% off balance). I am currently 60 days past due according to them on both accounts. Total is 30k. The letter said i have 7 days to make a payment or i will be reviewed for possible legal action. Is this common to get a letter like this. To me it is worded like its a threat to get me to pay. Has anyone else gotten a letter like this?
