HFC or Benefical. I had a loan with HFC. I fell behind and a lawyer contacted me. I sent a DV letter but the paperwork was for Benefical, not HFC with no explaination. I just received a summons in which an HFC statement was attached. How do I know they are handling the real HFC account and not some Benefical account? Should I spell this out in answering the summoms? The paperwork they sent me in response to my DV did have my signature on it. I am a little confused and want to make sure they are doing the summons for the HFC account. Thanks

They're all under the HSBC umbrella. If they have validated the debt by sending you a copy of your contract with your signature, you need to work out a payment arrangment with them. Contact your original creditor (the loan office) and try to work out a payment arrangement you can afford. They may refer you back to the attorney/collection agency.
