I am trying to get out of the PDL mess and currently have 5 loans. I'm planning to send letters to stop ACH authorizations, am going to my bank today to see about either freezing ACH payments of all kinds or closing the account altogether, but in the meantime... so I know if I have a leg to stand on in my fight against the PDL companies, can someone tell me if the following are licensed in the state of Illinois?

Jet Lending
Discount Advances
Zip 19 (shows up w/my bank as Northway Financial)
CK Marketing
Payday Loans of America

I'm very encouraged by what I've seen here so far and am feeling a glimmer of hope again.

Thanks in advance!!!

CK Marketing used to be known as paydayonline.com. Their address show they are located in Arizona but they are ILLEGAL in your state.

All your PDLs are illegal in your state. You are not legally bound to pay anything more than the actual amount borrowed from them. Check out the following link to know how to deal with illegal PDL lenders: http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/illegal-pdl-dealings.html

I am very glad to know this, Paul. This makes me feel even more hopeful and I've already taken steps since my post of this morning to try to fix this mess. I went to my bank at lunchtime and opened a new account. They've assured me that the ACH payments will NOT reopen my old account once I've closed it. I haven't closed the old one yet, as I still have 3 transactions that are "pending." Once they post to my account (probably by Friday) my bank instructed me to come back, at which point they will place some sort of block on my account (which has an actual name, I just can't remember what she said) that will let money in, but no money can go out - that way mine and my husband's payroll checks won't get hung up in limbo somewhere until they get the new direct deposit info. A teller at my bank will be able to manually transfer the funds from our payroll checks from our old account into our new account, which means I have to go in AGAIN, but that's OKAY. I also sent letters, as was recommended, to all my lenders mentioning the "illegal in my state" stuff and the other suggestions I found here.

I feel so much better already....
