My Sandpoint Capital woes have reemerged. The debt was passed over to the Lombardo, Davis & Goldman firm to collect on the debt. I was told I needed to pay upwards of $500 immediately, and when I proved to be "difficult" with them (as in I requested more information) they said they were going to talk to my Human Resources Dept. I told them to never call me at work again and that was that.

I called over to the Attorney General's office and I was told the following:

a) They couldn't (wouldn't) verify the license information of Sandpoint. I was told I had to speak with one, specific rep that never returns phone calls.

b) If the lender is unlicensed in Illinois, I need to repay BOTH the principal + fees of the loan. This contradicts much of the advice on these forums.

c) Because the loan "rolled over" it changed into another type of loan, now a consumer installment loan. This verbiage is not in my loan contract but now the rep I spoke to is telling me something completely different / whacked out from what I have been reading here.

I'm more concerned now that a collector that seems to be in the US is calling me about the loan. The Lombardo firm pulls up MANY hits as a fraudulent or unlicensed collector so I'm not too worried. The only bank account is closed and my employer simply won't cooperate with them without written approval from me. (And they won't notify the collector of this policy)

And now I owe EVERYTHING? What gives?
Is it true that I only

who did you speak with at the AG'S office?i had 10 illegal loans and they worked with me on all of them.i would file complaints anyway.i have noticed that lately.some AG employees spouting that line.you still only owe the principle.in fact file a complaint online and let someone know that a person is saying that illegal lenders can collect on pdl's at will.because that is what this person said.

You have an obligation to pay the principal and whatever interest is legal in your state in my opinion! I have received different information from state employees every single time I have called any state agency in my state. I am sure the problem exists elsewhere. They seem to be allowed to make up there own rules if they don't know! Terrible but apparently true. I would love to share some stories!

exactly.i didn't like how the AG'S office implied they were liable for fees as since this place is not even in the US paydayslave should only pay the principle.no fees.that is what i paid when i filed my complaints two and a half years ago.
