Can you open another account, have your paycheck deposited in that one and pay your mortgage with the new account?

I would talk with the bank and ask them to freeze the account so that nothing can come out at all. It can be closed once it has a 0 balance. In the meantime, ask them if you can open another account or open one at another bank to have your paycheck deposit into and pay bills from and also take the money out to put your other one at zero so you can start the closing process of that account. I would keep it frozen until you know for sure they won't try to put something through because my bank told me that it takes 2-4 business days for an account to totally close and if something comes through before that time, it may pop it back open. I am dealing with them too and sent the letters and have heard nothing from them. I opened my new account and had my old one frozen to ANY activity until I know it's safe to start the closing process because if something comes through before it's totally closed, it may pop back open. Maybe start there and then you can deal with them to pay back if you owe anything after then. Mine was suppose to be out today (even though I have already paid them way over my principal so I really don't owe them any money). I have not heard anything since I sent the letters but I expect to hear soon once they realize they aren't getting anything out of my account.

It is true what sbutler says about your account being forced open! It might be best to just get a live check from your payroll as a direct deposit can take a while to set up. You can always cash the live check and pay your mortgage by money order until you have a new account. Thats what I did and it worked fine! The main thing is to get control of your life!

Go into your bank and speak directly with the branch manager (no one else will do), ask that a hard debit block be placed on your account immediately! You might also plead your story and ask if they will help you out by removing some of the bank fees, some banks will do this, but only if you ask!

I've already got the new bank account - set it up last week. I've already spoken to the bank manager and that part isn't the problem. The trouble is, our account has had a negative balance. There is a deposit pending, but until it posts, I cannot put a block on my account yet. Nothing can be "pending" in order for me to do that. I also can't close the account completely, because our paychecks are direct deposited into that account. We've taken the steps to have that changed, but it's not going to happen as soon as this Friday, so those checks will go into the "old" account, at which point I have to go into the bank again and have them manually transferred into our new account. I'm just afraid that since I won't be able to put that block on the account until tomorrow (Tuesday) at the earliest, that one of these outfits is still going to get into my account come this Friday.
I guess it would really help knowing if people who have dealt with ZIP19 in the past have had success with them NOT taking out funds once the C&D/ACH revocation gets sent to them.
