I see no response from other's that have ask a question. I don't understand how someone can put a garnishment on your checking account without notification. I went to get gas last night using my debt card - and was rejected for NSFs. Came home and look on my on-line bank account - didn't see anything but called them. They then told me that someone had put a garnishment on my checking account and gave me that office number which of course was closed. Called this AM but of course they were 2 hour difference. Finally talked to them and all they could give me was an attorney and number, which I've called constantly and get no response from Did found out this was an attorney we dealt with back in 2007 and made full restituation with in 2008. Now they are saying we owed them an additional over $1000.00 - this information was given to us by the bank since we can't get in touch with the attorney. Never served any papers and had no idea this had happened till last night. What are our rights? We've already made good at the bank and have been calling the people that checks were returned on but this is not right and should not be legal. Once this is clean - should we change banks or just stop dealiing with them all together? Bad thing is - work for the state that requires us to have a bank account for direct deposit.
