Automatic withdrawls - what should I do?
Date: Mon, 09/13/2010 - 09:34
I'm on a hardship plan with BofA and Chase. I plan on settling with them in around April. I will stop paying them after Oct. They're getting their payments automatically from my checking account.
What's the best strategy to take? Close the account after Oct., put a "freeze" on it (if there
s such a thing), get a new chkg acct. with the same CU, or what? I have a long great history with the CU, and want to stay with them, but I need to stop these withdrawls so I can start saving for my settlement.
Thanks!!!

Call B of A and Chase and tell them you no longer want to make your payments via ACH withdrawal (revoke your permission). They'll ask you to set up alternate payment arrangments. Be prepared with an answer.

I was also on a hardship auto withdrawal with Chase before I settled. I just called them and cancelled the automatic withdrawal and they did. I told them I was filing bk and my attorney told me to cancel them. They never tried to withdraw after that.
