Will Hanna freeze bank accounts?

I am 65 years old and only get social security as income. I have not worked since 2008 and even though I am able to work, no one will hire me. I got a phone call from Frederick J Hanna and they said they had mailed me a letter which I didn't receive. She then asked me my date of birth and then she said we will go ahead and start litigation. I told her that I get food stamps and other public assistance and that I will not be able to pay any debt they say I owe. I sent a cease and desist letter and a DV letter. I live in Maryland and they are saying they are going to sue me from Georgia. If I get a summons, I will go to court, but can they do this from Georgia? I will never be able to pay any of these card debts if I do not get a job and I don't mean just any job. It will have to pay at least 50,000 as I made before or it's not worth going to work just to have the paycheck garnished. They treat you like you're a criminal because your job ended, unemployment ran out and you can't find another job. My question is, will Hanna freeze someone's bank account? I hear that some agencies do this. Thank you.

Hello Emma,
First of all, they can't do anything unless they sue and get a judgment. If they do then you just have to look at your state exemptions to determine if they can take anything or if you are judgment proof. If your only income is SS, then that is protected and they will not be able to get it. If you have no other assets, then there is likely nothing they can do. But remember, if they have a judgment, and you do get a job at some point, those funds could be targeted.
