Yes, once it is charged off they can refer it or sell it to CA. I'm at the 150 mark of no payments and they are settling with me for 50% (settlement letter due to arrive by friday).
They called about 5 times a day after the first 30 days and I never answered the phone. I talked to them for the first time last friday and told them I only had $1000.00 to settle a $5000.00 account. After talking the the agent she connected her manager and he and I worked a settlement for two payments of $1250.00 in 60 days.

Best thing you can do is save as much money as you can and settle for 50% or below.
